Description: Half Life 1 Mod "Heart of Evil" Village Deathmatch Level

I was looking for some new maps to play around with, so I can learn more about Hammer and map making. I came across the Hammer source of the Village deathmatch level for the Half Life 1 mod called "Heart of Evil". I looked over the map and I thought to myself, hey... maybe I can convert this over for Garry's Mod. So I worked on it for a few days. I did a quick texture replacement, checking that the texture will fit into the theme. You know how that all goes. Then I did replacements of brush based props. Then this and that with more brushes and stuff. I eventually came up with something that's playable and looks halfway decent. I then created different versions of it.

ATTENTION: All maps will require you having the Episode 2 content. All of the maps were NOT compiled with HDR as well... heh.. I'm not proficient at that yet. Plus, no 3D skyboxes.

This one's for all you roleplayers out there. I've set this map up to try to be roleplay friendly. I've opened up some of the 'void' buildings to be useable. I've also added in some 'npc' villagers. But all they really do is just aimlessly walk around. But it should add to the.. atmosphere. Each building has doors that instead of rotating 90 degrees, just slide into the walls. I've been in some close quarter parts of RP maps were the doors will just get right into the way if they're open. So, I thought that sliding doors would work better in this situation. I'm not too sure if the RP gamemodes out there will detect the doors. If there's any problems, just contact me.

ATTENTION: Do NOT play these maps in Garry's Mod. Due to a mistake on my part, these maps will NOT play very well. I assumed that GM wouldn't use the deathmatch entities for spawn locations. I was wrong. Ooops! I will probably fix this in a later update.

These two maps are the single player versions of the Village level. The source RMF map file had the entities necessary for playing the level in single player. I adapted them to fit into the HalfLife 2 theme. The scenario is, you have to go into a village located deep in the woods of... well.. who knows where. There's no end to the level, just kill all the combine and zombies in the area. Start all over again by cutting your head off on the rotating ceiling fan of doom. Or by finding the hidden death trap. They are best played in Episode 2.

Now here you go. If you want to do some deathmatching, use this map. I've adjusted the spawn points on this one so you don't spawn into the roofs of some of the buildings. That's pretty much it. This level's good for plain ole killing.

Now here's the sandbox version of the map. This one's good for your general purpose gamemodes. Heck, you could probably lay out a nice little gokart track and have some races.
