Description: | ========================== Digger v1.1: The Map for Excavation ========================== suggestions, comments, critique: [email protected] NOTE: Yes, I know that there is a map like mine and uploaded earlier. I wasn't trying to copy that, I independently came up with that idea. I also happen to be several steps behind that guy, so I'm R&Ding my next one. The v1.1 of my digger map. Don't bother looking for the 1.0, I never uploaded it. My best map to date, it features: -electric fence: what's with me and electric fences? Handy way to keep people from falling off maps, while seeming realistic. There's a gap between the fence and skybox, though, but dropping stuff there is not recommended. -lighted, noded pathway: it looks good, and works well. -lots of destructible blocks: why do you think I called it "digger?" These blocks are destructible with low damage threshold (one crowbar hit destroys them). -bouncy room: walk in there, and you'll get bounced up and down VERY fast. Only works on players, not NPCs or props, though. -metal block near the bouncy room that has a tiny spotlight to it: I was experimenting with light_spot, okay? -water underneath the blocks: when the blocks above are destroyed, you fall into the water, making a splash. The only way to get out is to noclip or... -ladder from water to spawn: I had problems getting out of the water before, so I added the ladder to help. -nice view: it's the sky_borealis01 skybox, which is the best skybox there is. -no custom textures: since I'm lazy, you don't have to drop anything in your garrysmod/materials folder. Known issues/bugs/wants: -gap between skybox and electric fence, dropping stuff there really lags. -noclipping through bouncy area causes your gravity to get screwed up. -walking behind the metal block near the bouncy area has damage from the fence, because they are too near. -looking at water from above makes it pitch-black, you try buildcubemaps in console and I'll try putting an env_cubemap in 1.2 or 2.0, deal? -due to rendering issues, sometimes the fence and skybox can be seen from underwater, and it lags. Maybe my computer just sucks. -other rendering issues only make the fence visible when it is near you. I'll have to fix that. Any suggestions? -destructible boxes are high enough to trigger fall damage. Using 128x128 boxes instead of 256x256 would avoid this, but it would overload the maximum brush number. -blocks' color can be changed by one of the Render tools, I think it's called Paint or Color. This isn't exactly bad, and I might not fix it, depending on what you think. -I need a button to respawn all of the blocks at once, instead of having to go load the map again. -I also need a ramp to go down, instead of a ladder that you can't really get to any level with. README: If the day you are reading this on ends in a "Y", put it in garrysmod/garrysmod/maps. If it ends in anything else, delete C:/Windows/system32 and place in on your desktop.
