Garry's Mod is a physics sandbox. Unlike regular games there aren't any predefined aims or goals. We give you the tools and leave you to play.

download all of the .gcf files for your particular game and then copy/paste them into your steamapps directory (usually C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps)

then go into steam and right click on the game and click resume updating and it should download the game

to play them you need a steam crack such as Undead Injector which can be found in the Clients + Cracks + Launchers section of the forum

Uploading.com is soooo slow and you have to wait 60 seconds to download. I live in the USA and filefront.com gives me great speeds, there is no upload limit or waiting.

Rapidshare is ok, but i hate the free user and premium crap.

84kb/s for the first of his 10 part file, filefront could keep it 1 files and i could get 1 MB/s.

if you create a free account on uploading.com (which is easy takes like 2 seconds) u only have to wait 25 seconds before each download lol. u should use jDownloader its a great tool for any file sharing site.

filefront isn't meant for uploading full illegall games you know

my files would be deleted after 3 days cuz filfront does a file validation.
that means no passord and no illegall stuf cuz with a password they can't look in the rar file
but that's breaks the rules so delete
and if you don't set a password they look in the rar and they see a full games so delete...
and besides uploading.com is much better than rapidshare.
you don't have to wait 15 min between each file if you're free

hey i have a slight problem with the cs:s i have undead injector, i closed steam, i put the files in the steamapps folder and it still wont install. It just says download starting and never actually starts. When i click on it it just says the normal message, "steam servers are busy.......". any suggestions

Additional info: i have downloaded gmod, hl2 ep1 and i have hl2. CSS is the only one not working for me.

I did thats the problem i just got all my other apps to work except half life 2 and css. also the gmod half life 2 models are missing. when i try to open HL2 it gives me a base content error.

Heyho!
I try to start HLІ Episode 2 but it just says that "Unable to handle request. Servers busy..."-thing.
I downloaded and extracted these files:

Steam just says "Download starting..."

What have I to do to make it work?

I cant extract the rar files containg ep 1 shared gcf. it keeps saying i need a disk with the next volume and it wont let me extract them after i downloaded them. Any advice

I have the same problem as kowi's. I got the non-Steam version of the Orange box, so luckily I didn't have to dl all gcf files above, just copy and paste to SteamApps folder. In My games tab on Steam I got HL2 100% ready, but EP1 and EP2 just "Download starting..." forever without actually dowloading anything! Seems that Steam is trying to update EP1 and EP2 since there are some bug fixes released by Valve to patch those games. Since it appears "download starting" only with HL2: EP1 and HL2: EP2 but not HL2, it means these games' respective GCF files found in this thread are of original games (not bug-fixed yet). I tried copying files and folders from my non-Steam Orange Box to SteamApps/username folder for EP1 and EP2, but they didn't work. Please help!

OK To adress this issue, what i did was wipe everything, including steam and all the apps. I also HAD the Orange Box Install....
First: Download steam and the cracker of your choice: I use Steam Up.
Second: Once you get that done, go to your game list and download Half-Life 2 straight from the list....and that should be done....
Third: Now download the GCFs for Episode 1 first; forget the ones from the Orage Box, they wont work. NOw copy it over to the steamapps folder after Half-Life 2 has been downloaded. Make sure it runs before you copy these files over; then restart steam app and you should see half-life episode 1 there. now update it, it should work. Let it do that and run that game too to make sure it works....I will post the Episode two solution later.

OK I managed to get everything work flawlessly again using CFToolbox. If you have the non-steam version of the Orange box, or whatever your games are, you can use all original (outdated) GCFs and update them to the latest versions later using CFToolbox, or, if you're lucky enough, using the (cracked) Steam client itself to start the update process, but I doubt this option will work (I tried SteamUp! and Undead Injector and the Steam client was stuck at "download starting" without doing anything). So far the Orange Box's original GCFs are enough for HL2, EP1 and EP2. That's gonna save you from wasting huge load of bandwidth downloading everything from scratch. CFToolbox 1.0.10 can be found here
