Colored chat (client side)

I am trying to figure out how to make a little client side script that will make my text colorful.. without any plugin.. it is possible and I've seen people do it.

I think you need to use GCFScape though.. any thoughts?

Anyway I'm pretty sure that is a server side plugin in, however I could be wrong but I havn't (to date) seen a script that does such a thing.
