I haven't seen this mentioned about steam backups

I backed up all my games (downloaded cfgs) using cracked steam and restored them today after formatting my pc. They restore and run perfectly.

So if someone got all the pre loaded material and uploaded them as one big steam restore file, then everyone would have every game easily. Well thats what I'm planning on doing.

I just don't understand why people don't distribute steam games like this.

Because the Steam encryption is shit for backups and it's 'alot' smaller and faster if you simply upload and use the GCF files because technically thats what your really backing up.

haha yeah but isn't finding the GCF files and knowing how/where to put them easier or just backing up Steam easier for noobs?

    Not really C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps

It's only hard for the 12 year olds which have never been inside the Program Files folder and if they can't do that I don't think they'll be able to run the .exe the Steam Back up creates lol.
