Basically gmod works with a mount that will mount the models materials and shit into there. There is EVEN a gmod folder called Models Materials

So say you don't have ep2. PIrate a STANDALONE version and place the materials/models folder into the garrysmod/garrysmod folder and overwrite everything. These will not show up in the PROPS menu since they are not mounted. so go to your "browse" and they will be in there <3
