You need half life 2 Deathmatch. For this you need HL2, so all in all you need HL2 or HL2 Deathmatch.
If I'm wrong correct me please.

you need half-life 2, hl2dm, and source sdk base to play most source mods, and u'll need source sdk base -orange box eiditon, and ep2 to play new orange box mods

rofl you can't get them from steam with a cracked client. You need to download them from the GCF section here.
