Yeah, but I have SteamUP and Half Life 2 EP1 and EP2 are undownloadable on steamUP. And I know for a fact that those games are available via direct install from the CD. I don't really care about HL2 : EP1 + 2, just in future I was wondering how to directly install it from the CD.

Thats my problem . I "borrowed it from a friend", and I have a hacked version of steam, but when I click on the re-install button, it doesn't try installing from a disk, it just starts downloading it. I can't find out how to get it to install from a disk, so I don't know. The same CD installed...

Wow. That is my question. If I just go into steam and try to install, the download automatically starts, so I am asking how to install from a cd without starting the download, as with HL2 : EP1 and EP2 you cant download them so the install fails.

But if you put it in it automatically goes to download, and steam says the way to "force install" from a CD is to got to run, type in your steam folder and steam.exe and add -E ( or whatever your cd drive is), but you have to clear the local "cache files", and so you have to start the download...

Cool, thanks ! I can just create a "Steamup" folder and have 1 shortcut for mw2 and my other legal games and the other for The Orange Box ? And I'm not at my house atm, so I can't download, but just google steam up ?

My friend legally bought the Orange Box, and after he had installed all these games in there, lent it to me , incase I could get them working on my computer too. I have TOB Disk 1 in my drive now, but I was wondering if there was anyway to skip the CD-key bit ( or a keygen, but it's steam 0_0 )...
