SteamUp! never succeeds in downloading a game and I couldn't find a Spore NCF anywhere, it has been even requested a few times. The Spore from the torrents is buggy (at least the galactic adventures part) and if I patch it it's impossible to find a crack.
Well even after a restart and checking that steam isn't open I still get the message. It appears on most of the servers I try to join, but I can still play some of them. I'm pretty sure I was able to play that same server before I got the "update".
I started playing Team Fortress Classic yesterday, installed HL and TFC using this guide. I connected to a server from gametracker.com and played. Today I found out that I can't change my name. It said "Change your name using the Steam settings dialog" and I clicked it and steam appeared to...
I followed this tutorial using half-life.gcf and half-life engine.gcf from here and platform.gcf from here. I validated the gcfs, extracted them to D:\Half-Life. I downloaded rev-emu from here. When I tried to start the shortcut I got "Failed to initialize authentication interface. Exiting..."...
It freezes at "establishing network connection to server" even if I set it to LAN and after a while it exits to desktop.

Then maybe I didn't download the right files. What do I download if I need just half-life?
I've downloaded these files:
half-life base content.gcf
half-life engine.gcf
half-life high definition.gcf
half-life.gcf (Part 1)
half-life.gcf (Part 2)
multiplayer ob binaries.gcf
What is the difference between the original half-life and this half-life? I still can't run naruto naiteki kensei, which requires an original steam half-life.
