Gmod help

Hi I'm new here. I downloaded Gmod 10/11 and put it in my steamapps folder. I use SteamUp!. When I run the game it shows the screen with the guy with the psych gun and crows flying around. Then it just takes me back to my desktop. Help please.

firt of all download a steam patcher(choose one)(I recomend Steamup, is easier to use):
Steamup:

Undead patch:

then just press the garrys mod in the "my games" tab and it sould download ok unless that you intall wrong the patch

I had that problem, so I defragged the files and it worked.
