yo how do i install the gcf's? i copy pasted them to the steamapps folder but it still shows the same server error.

.ncf's goes in the steamapps folder and Grand Theft Auto IV folder goes in the common folder

have you installed the updates?

download them
get CFToolbox here
patch the ncf's with updates included

it's in your your steam directory
there will be a directory called steamapps

default directory is:
%SYSTEMDRIVE%\ProgramFiles\Steam

where systemdrive is your HDD where your windows or ... is installed

most common is C:\

so that would be "C:\Program Files\Steam"
steamapps would then be: "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps"

NCF's go then here "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps"
and the game folder here it is "Grand Theft Auto IV" will go in the common folder

in cftoolbox goto GCF/NCF gamefiles or the first tab on the left

to update this go stand on the ncf file that you wish to update
in this case it's grand_theft_auto_iv_rgsc_data

right click on the ncf file
select patches
then apply update
select the update file

same for the other ncf

(The update file is in the rar archive)

if needed i will post pictures

extract it in the steamapps folder
steamapps folder is in the steam directory

when i try to extract the gta4 part 1 it says i need to insert a disk with (grand_theft_auto_iv_data.1_to_14.update.rar) on it. what does that mean???
