Half Life 2: Deathmatch question

I have the cracked version of steam and I've downloaded Half Life 2: Deathmatch. It runs properly and brings up around 63 servers that are active but when I try to connect it says Steam validation denied. Is there a way around this? All other games that I've downloaded work fine. Team Fortress 2 connects to servers just fine. If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it.

Team Fortress 2 is free2play now which is why it connects fine. You do not own HL2DM which is why you cannot join the servers, if you were smart you would google for some cracked servers, if you was a little smarter you would know that HL2DM can be obtained for free from http://www.steampowered.com/ati_offer1a/ or http://www.steampowered.com/nvidia/#
