Microsoft Releases Windows 7 Technologies to Manufacturers of Specialized Devices

Today during an industry address at the Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) Boston, Microsoft Corp. announced its initial rollout of Windows 7 technologies to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of specialized devices through the release to manufacturing (RTM) of the next-generation platforms for Windows Embedded Enterprise and Windows Embedded Server. These high-performance Windows Embedded platforms enable OEMs to bring specialized devices to market faster, support device differentiation through innovative user experiences, and ensure streamlined device connectivity with Windows-based PCs, servers and online services. Microsoft also separately disclosed feature enhancements and RTM details for Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3, which provides streamlined connectivity to Windows 7-based PCs, servers and online services.
