NVIDIA denies rumors of faulty chips, mass GPU failures

The headline of a recent Inquirer story claims "All NVIDIA G84s and G86s are bad," and the article itself reaffirms that statement, saying: "The short story is that all the G84 and G86 parts are bad. Period. No exceptions. All of them, mobile and desktop, use the exact same ASIC, so expect them to go south in inordinate numbers as well. There are caveats however, and we will detail those in a bit." Feel free to consult the article for the caveats it mentions, but none of them change the Inquirer's basic claim.

This is a serious charge to level at any company, and we contacted NVIDIA for additional information. The company's response first affirms its intent to stand behind its customers and repair any and all notebooks that experience field failures. It then states...
