SKIDROW Portal 2 help?

Yeah, so i downloaded portal 2, skidrow of course, standalone. I installed the 2nd update and it worked perfectly. After restarting my laptop, when i ran portal 2, it got as far as the loading level screen, and when it had finished loading, it made some spasticated noises and then crashed. Help?

[Edit] Installing the 3rd update didnt help

Disable multicore rendering in advanced video options, that should work
