Steam Will Not Start

I've had Steam for just about 4 years now, and suddenly this past month I couldn't launch Steam. It would sit in my processes menu using 14mb of RAM, but 0% of CPU usage. I would end the process, and restart Steam only to find it sitting in my Task Manager doing nothing again. I read plenty of other people having the same problem, and many people said the deleting the ClientRegistry.blob would fix it and reupdate Steam. It does reupdate and gets to 100% but then the update box disappears and nothing happens. I also looked at the programs that could interfere with the start of Steam, and I have none of them. I uninstalled my Anti-Virus (Avast) just to be sure, but that didn't make a difference. I added an exception on my Firewall for Steam, but still no luck. I even totally uninstalled Steam, then reinstalled it, but that didn't fix it. I haven't done anything, or downloaded anything that would make this randomly occur.

Please help. :(

Navigation to program files\steam in there delete everything except the steamapps folder, next download/install/update steam as usual.

A little excessive. Have you tried contacting Steam support about this issue?

As ISO said, wait to see what Steam support says, hopefully they will be able to clear up the issue. Or I will run down a few more ideas for you.

I've had that problem before too! Pissed, I was.
I don't quite recall what I did to fix it. But for
a retarded reason, try installing Steam to a different
location to see if it does anything. Also try doing a Registry
Cleanup
. (Are there Steam registry files? FIND OUT!)
:D I'm just guessing of what to do. But, the best way to figure
out something is to do it yourself so you will remember it forever.

If you had back'd up your stuff, formated and reinstalled steam and your stuff the problem would have been fixed and Steam still wouldn't have replied.

Takes me about a day lol, but try what Dem said. May work.

Scan your computer for malware and spyware
Its probably something you've downloaded that makes steam lagg.
Download something like XoftSpySE or AntiSpyWare. you have high Ramusage because, the spyware/malware is trying to access the web/send info off through your connection with steam

Tried so many different Virus Scans, removed any threat and still nothing.

try reinstalling it works for me
I already reinstalled Steam totally. Refer to first post.

REALLY Easy thing to try. Cut your 'Steamapps' folder and move it somewhere safe, ie - Out of the steam directory. Now... Delete EVERYTHING EXCEPT Steam.exe. Now just run steam.exe and let it do it's thing. When and IF it starts up, close it down, put your steamapps folder back into it's original place and have fun :)

Good Luck, let me know if it works.

Sounds like that work too. But it seems he doesn't quite care anymore XD
Senseless forumers.

Reflector that most likely will work but if his steamapps folder is like mine (25GB) Then It Could Take A While...

Mines about 33gigs. If you keep it on the same partition, but just move it out of the steam directory, it should only take a couple of minutes, 10mins max I reckon. That is assuming he doesn't have a really slow outdated PC. :).

I'm in the process of doing what you said. Steam is updating as we speak, but I don't see how this is going to work any better than a complete reinstall like I have tried. We'll see what happens..

[EDIT] Still no luck, does the same thing as before. Nothing pops up after the update.

Hmmm, that is really quite odd... Have you tried looking into the steam logs for anything?

Do you have a wmiprvse.exe running in your task manger?

I do not =/

Here is what the log reads:
