edit: it says "Can't find background image 'materials/console/background04.vtf' when i try to run left4dead2.exe

There are many releases of bad scene content that does not work properly. I have tested this myself. Fixing links now. There are more parts because of people having downloads fail mid-way.
 
i dl'd it and when i ran it, i went through the loading scene, then it just closes. i checked the readme and it told me to go to regfix and click on the one that corresponded to my program file (which was x86 in this case). so, i did that and launched the game. an error message came up saying that tier0.dll couldn't be found. halp?
 
I don`t get what to do. I downloaded everything and extracted it. Then I dragged everything into steamapps/myname. I went in and double clicked on the registry thing. Then after I double clicked on left4dead2.exe. Everything pops out and its all normal. I go to single player and select the stuff. Press start, and then it loads. Then suddenly once it is done loading, it crashes. How can I fix this?
 
in CF toolbox theres an install button with a bunch of NCF/GCF files. Are these updates for games that I can use to replace the old out dated files posted on the thread?
 
i'm not sure. i never downloaded this and tried it. does multiplayer work for you? try running it from steam or running it as admin (if you are on vista)
 
What about single player?
Also is this Steamless or Steam?
If steamless, how do you connect to cracked servers.
 
search for setti servers. that will tell you about cracked servers. you should be able to use this with or without steam.
 
the program couldn't start because tier0.dll is missing.


the video loads but the game then crashes. Also I must play it with steam, or else it says that steam isn't running and must be.
 
I am also having the problem with Single Player not working. I cannot do multiplayer because my computer is not very good and thus multiplayer lags my computer horribly.
 
You have something wrong going on. You do not run it w/ steam, do not place in your steam Dir.

I have tested this/played it myself.
 
I have neither ran it with steam nor placed it in steam Dir. it is in a completely different folder. I am trying putting it on a completely different computer (a X64) to test it, and I will report back.

Edit: Tested and I still have the same problem, I get to single player and let it load, and then it crashes. Does anyone have any idea how to help? I have tried reinstalling it a few times.

Edit to the edit: Alternatively anyone able to tell me how to play online or where to find a cracked server?
 
By reinstalling I mean unpacking the .rar files to the folder again after deleting the files.

Edit: Okay, here's what I did.
1. Get the .rar files
2. Extract the .rar files to get more .rars
3. Extract those .rars to get the game files
4. Run Regfix X64 (I'm on a 64-bit system)
5. Run Left 4 Dead 2.exe
6. select single player
7. wait for load
8. crashes, the process ends itself

Edit to the Edit: I have discovered the problem. It is necessary to run the inigen first.

You can download it anywhere, but it will probably will be the same result. Unless someone uploads to a site where you can have unlimited upload space, it would be multiple parts, so get over it, and start to download it with JDownloader ;) If you don't know what that is, it's a download manager that allows to download files automatically, without your consent. You can google it or see if another member has a link to it. For now I don't so you'll have to find it yourself. Good Luck.

Okay, I'm going to bug you once more, with Garena, how do you start your own online server? When I tried it said it was creating it for five minutes before I closed out.
 
Umm I have this problem when I try to load. It shows this error message "Cant find the "materials/console/background04.vtf"", any way to solve this problem?
 
Same issue with windows 7 ran the registry editor and game just crashes after loading tried unpacking again. does this work with multiplayer can anyone link an tutorial? little confused with this because im not getting any error game just closes. Any links or tutorials would be greatly appreciated.
