Microsoft surprised many people in the tech community today when it announced plans to end work on its 6-year-old Windows Live Spaces blogging platform, helping its users migrate to the rival WordPress.com. More surprising: The arrangement comes with no financial compensation, no marketing agreements, and no commitments that WordPress.com use Windows Live ID or Microsoft's Windows Azure cloud-computing platform.
